RPL banned Spartak from playing at the Lukoil Arena due to the quality of the turf

The Russian Premier League (RPL) banned Spartak Moscow from playing the 20th round match against Fakel Voronezh on its home field. This is reported on the organization’s website.

The RPL stated that the turf at the Lukoil Arena stadium does not comply with the regulations and standards of the Russian Football Union. It is noted that the reason was a record amount of snow falling in Moscow, which caused the quality of the young lawn to suffer. According to Match TV, the meeting will take place at Luzhniki.

After the first part of the RPL season, Spartak is in fifth place in the standings. In 18 matches, the capital team scored 30 points. Krasnodar is in the lead with 38 points.

The match between Spartak and Fakel is scheduled to take place on March 10. It will start at 19:00 Moscow time.
