The RFU said Ronaldo would have been suspended for five matches for making an obscene gesture
The former head of the ethics committee of the Russian Football Union (RFU), Semyon Andreev, described the punishment for the Portuguese Al-Nasr striker Cristiano Ronaldo if he had made an obscene gesture during a match in Russia. His words are quoted by RIA Novosti.
Andreev said that in Russia, in this case, the football player could be punished and suspended for several matches – from one to five. In addition, he would have faced a fine ranging from several tens of thousands to several hundred thousand rubles.
On February 26, Ronaldo made an obscene gesture after the match of the 21st round of the Saudi Arabian championship against Al-Shabab (3:2). The attacker waved his hand several times in the groin area. It was noted that this was done to Al-Shabab fans who were chanting the name of Argentine forward Lionel Messi.
Ronaldo moved to Al-Nasr on December 30, 2022. The 39-year-old forward’s contract is valid for two years.
