Barcelona strips Alves, convicted of rape, of club legend status
Barcelona has stripped footballer Dani Alves of his club legend status from being convicted of rape. Sport.es reports this.
The team removed Alves’ profile from the Legendary Players section of the site. It is noted that Barcelona did this only after the final decision in the case was made.
On February 22, the court sentenced Alves – he received 4.5 years in prison. The athlete was arrested on January 20, 2023. According to the alleged victim, on December 30, 2022, in one of the nightclubs in Barcelona, the football player locked her in a toilet, where he beat and raped her.
Together with Barcelona, Alves won the Spanish Championship six times, the country’s Cup and Super Cup three times, won the Champions League and won the UEFA Super Cup. Also, together with the Catalans, he won the Club World Cup three times.
