Three other appeals were filed from Russia – by the Russian Olympic Committee, the Russian Figure Skating Federation, as well as figure skaters Kamila Valieva, Mark Kondratyuk, Anastasia Mishina and Alexander Gallyamov, Victoria Sinitsina and Nikita Katsalapov. They ask to retain the gold of the team tournament for the Russian team.
On January 30, the ISU decided to redistribute the team tournament medals due to the disqualification and cancellation of Valieva’s results. The Russian team moved from first to third place, gold went to the USA, silver to Japan.
On January 29, CAS suspended Valieva for four years for violating anti-doping rules. The period of suspension is counted from December 25, 2021, all her results for this period are canceled. The fact that traces of the banned drug trimetazidine were found in the skater’s sample from December 2021 became known after the end of the team tournament.
