The roof collapsed at the Plushenko’s Angels Academy skating rink in southwest Moscow. This was reported by the Mash Telegram channel.
The incident occurred on the night of February 25-26. Previously, the cause of the collapse of the membrane roof was snow accumulated on it. It is noted that there were no people in the building at the time of the incident. Currently, training takes place at another academy complex in the village of Gorki-10 near Moscow.
Two-time Olympic champion Evgeni Plushenko created his own figure skating school in 2017. The second branch of the academy in the capital’s Troparevo district opened in December 2023.
Silver medalist of the 2024 Russian Championship Sofya Muravyova, as well as juniors Veronika Zhilina and Sofia Titova are training under the leadership of Plushenko. Previously, European champion Alena Kostornaya and Olympic silver medalist Alexandra Trusova also worked on his team.
