Washington captain Ovechkin breaks his ten-game NHL scoring streak

Russian Washington Capitals forward Alexander Ovechkin broke his ten-game scoring streak in the National Hockey League (NHL). This was reported by a Lenta.ru correspondent.

The captain of the capital’s club was unable to score effectively in the match with the Florida Panthers. Ovechkin’s team lost in overtime with a score of 2:3. This match was the Russian’s 1400th in the NHL regular championships.

In the previous ten games, Ovechkin scored eight goals and made six assists. It was the first time he had such a scoring streak since 2018. In total, this season the Russian played 53 matches, scored 16 goals and provided 26 assists.

On February 21, 38-year-old Ovechkin closed the gap with Wayne Gretzky on the list of the best snipers in NHL history. The Russian has 838 goals scored, the Canadian has scored 894 times.

Ovechkin has been playing in the NHL since 2005, and throughout his overseas career he has played for Washington.
