The ROC commission called the IOC conditions for the admission of Russians to tournaments unlawful

The Russian Olympic Committee (ROC) Commission for International Cooperation criticized the conditions of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) for the admission of Russians to tournaments. The organization’s statement is reported by TASS.

The commission discussed the use of restrictive measures by international sports organizations to admit Russians to competitions based on the IOC recommendations of March 28, 2023. The conditions for admitting Russians were called unlawful and discriminatory.

“It was noted that in many cases these restrictive measures were clearly used for the purpose of unfair competition to eliminate the strongest Russian athletes,” the statement emphasized.

In December 2023, the IOC decided to admit Russians and Belarusians to the Olympics in Paris. They will be able to take part in the tournament as individual neutral athletes. At the same time, athletes who support a special operation in Ukraine, or who have connections with the armed forces or security agencies of Russia and Belarus will not be allowed to participate in the 2024 Games. In addition, representatives of team sports will miss the tournament.
