State Duma Deputy Rodnina appreciated Putin’s support for Kamila Valieva: we don’t give up our own
Three-time Olympic champion, State Duma deputy Irina Rodnina said that Russian President Vladimir Putin supported figure skater Kamila Valieva by placing her next to him at the opening of the “Future Games” in Kazan. Her words are quoted by Match TV.
Rodnina appreciated the gesture of the head of state towards the disqualified athlete with the words “we don’t give up our own.”
“Yes, Vladimir Vladimirovich supported Kamila Valieva with such a gesture! It seems to me that the whole country expressed support for her. We don’t hand over our own,” she said.
Earlier, Kremlin official representative Dmitry Peskov revealed the head of state’s attitude to the disqualification of figure skater Kamila Valieva. “Of course, the president supports Valieva,” he said, commenting on the fact that at the opening of the Games of the Future, Putin sat next to the athlete.
On January 29, the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) suspended Valieva for four years. The period of suspension starts on December 25, 2021.
