Tarasova called Valieva’s disqualification the main tragedy of the season
Honored Coach of the USSR Tatyana Tarasova named the event in figure skating this season that upset her most. The expert’s words are quoted by Metaratings.
“The situation that happened with Kamila Valieva is not only the main disappointment of this season, it is the tragedy of the season and unfair treatment. We will try to support her further in all her endeavors,” Tarasova said. She also invited the athlete to contact her if necessary.
On January 29, the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) suspended Valieva for four years for doping. The period of disqualification starts from December 25, 2021.
According to the court, the athlete could not prove that she took the prohibited drug trimetazidine, which was found in her sample, unintentionally. The athlete passed a positive test in December 2021.
