British footballer Tom Lockyer showed a defibrillator installed under the skin

Luton Town footballer Tom Lockyer showed off the defibrillator installed under his skin. Sky Sports published the video on their social media page X.

In the video, the captain of the English Premier League (EPL) club shows off a large scar on the left side of his chest, while a defibrillator installed under his skin is visible under his arm. “This is my battle wound. There’s a defibrillator here, with a wire going straight to the heart in case it comes in handy. The device constantly monitors the condition of my heart and if the indicators deviate from the norm, it will give a shock,” explained the British defender. According to him, the battery in a defibrillator needs to be changed every ten years.

On December 16, during the match of the 17th round of the Premier League against Bournemouth, with the score 1:1, Lockyer lost consciousness right on the field. He was given medical care and hospitalized, but the match was not completed. Doctors later said that the football player suffered cardiac arrest.

Lockyer is 29 years old and has been with Luton Town since 2020. He previously played for Charlton Athletic and Bristol Rovers.
