Putin said that by 2030, 70% of Russians should play sports
Russian President Vladimir Putin said that by 2030, 70 percent of the country’s citizens should engage in sports on a regular basis. RIA Novosti reports about the task.
According to him, a few years ago, 38 percent of Russians went in for sports, but now the percentage of those involved in activities has increased to 55. “Physical education and sports are directly related to the health of the nation, to maintaining a healthy lifestyle, to demographics, to family, to the economy,” – Putin said.
Earlier it became known that almost 1.4 million schoolchildren in Russia played football in physical education classes in the first half of the 2023/2024 school year. It was clarified that this number is eight percent of the total number of school students in Russia.
In early February, Russian Sports Minister Oleg Matytsin announced the growth of the country’s authority in the international sports arena. “We have proven that we are a self-sufficient country,” he said.
