Leonova said that Valieva will be able to quickly resume her career if she wants
Silver medalist of the World Figure Skating Championship Alena Leonova assessed the chances of Russian Kamila Valieva to return to the sport after a four-year disqualification. Her words are quoted by “Sport Day by Day”.
According to her, the skater will quickly be able to resume her career if she wants. “There is a saying: “Legs remember.” It won’t be difficult for her to get in shape, being in such a headquarters and with such specialists,” Leonova said.
Earlier, three-time Olympic champion in figure skating, State Duma deputy Irina Rodnina assessed Valieva’s chances of becoming the winner of the Games. “I admit the idea that Valieva may no longer have a chance to become an Olympic champion,” Rodnina said.
On January 29, the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) suspended Valieva for four years for doping. The period of disqualification starts from December 25, 2021. According to the court, the athlete could not prove that she took the prohibited drug trimetazidine, which was found in her sample, unintentionally.
