“Championship”: in “Torpedo” there was a split between Larionov and defender Sizov
In the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL) club Torpedo, a split occurred between head coach Igor Larionov and defenseman Anton Sizov. “Championship” reports this.
On February 18, Torpedo, leading 3:1 during the meeting with SKA, failed at the end and eventually lost with a score of 3:4. At the post-match press conference, Larionov stated that Sizov would no longer play on the team.
According to a source from the Championship, there was a breakdown in communication between the athlete and the coach. “The players tried to stand up for Anton, Larionov’s assistants had thoughts of returning him to the lineup. But Larionov himself turned out to be adamant,” he said.
Torpedo played 65 matches in the KHL regular season. The Nizhny Novgorod team scored 74 points and are in sixth place in the standings. In the last four games, Larionov’s team suffered defeats.
