Silver medalist of the European Figure Skating Championships Alexander Samarin announced his retirement. This was reported by a Lenta.ru correspondent.
The athlete announced his decision after the free program at the Spartakiad in Magnitogorsk. Based on the sum of the two skates, Samarin received 224.91 points from the judges and after the first warm-up takes last place.
“Yes, it didn’t turn out as bright as we would like. I wanted to be here. The tournament is called the Spartakiad of the Strongest, I’m glad that I was able to be among the strongest,” Match TV quotes the figure skater as saying.
25-year-old Samarin, in addition to silver at the European Championships, has bronze at the 2019 World Team Championship. He repeatedly became a prize-winner of national championships and Grand Prix stages, and also won the final of the Russian Cup.
