Two-time Olympic champion Abdulrashid Sadulayev was denied entry to Romania
Two-time Olympic champion Abdulrashid Sadulayev was denied entry into Romania at Bucharest airport. The head of the Russian Wrestling Federation (FSBR) Mikhail Mamiashvili reported this to RIA Novosti.
According to the functionary, the border guards doubted the authenticity of the Russian’s visa. “The fact is that he received it in Spain and flew to Bucharest from Barcelona. At the same time, in Spain he left the airport, returned, safely boarded the plane and flew to Romania,” Mamiashvili said.
In Bucharest, Sadulaev planned to compete at the European Wrestling Championships. He was entered to participate in the freestyle wrestling tournament in the weight category up to 97 kilograms. “There is no longer a chance that the issue will be resolved and he will compete at the European Championships. It won’t be possible to find a replacement either – all the draws have almost been completed,” added the head of the FSBR.
27-year-old Sadulayev is a two-time Olympic champion. He also has five victories at the world championships and four gold medals at the European championships.
