Guberniev – Vyalbe: foreigners may envy Russia in skiing, but not in biathlon
Sports commentator Dmitry Guberniev appreciated the words of the President of the Russian Ski Racing Federation (FLGR) Elena Vyalbe about the envy of foreigners towards Russian tournaments. He is quoted by Sport24.
Guberniev ridiculed Vyalbe’s statement, adding that foreigners may envy Russia in skiing, but not in biathlon. He called the head of the FLGR an expert in matters of envy.
“Continuing Elena Valerievna’s thought – if you look at football, then one hundred percent of the people who play in England, Spain and Italy are jealous of our Russian championship. And in the National Hockey League, people don’t sleep at night: “How could we play in the Continental Hockey League!”,” the journalist noted.
On October 25, 2023, the Council of the International Ski and Snowboard Federation extended sanctions against Russian athletes. For the first time, restrictions on the performance of Russians at international ski tournaments were imposed in March 2022.
