Guberniev ridiculed the contract of a football player convicted in the Netherlands with Spartak

Guberniev was glad that footballer Promes did not receive Russian citizenship

TV presenter Dmitry Guberniev ridiculed the contract of striker Quincy Promes, convicted in the Netherlands, with Moscow Spartak. His words are quoted by Metaratings.

“Promes is a criminal, let’s be happy for Russian football. He will hide from justice here and benefit Spartak. Hooray! Joy overwhelms us, and tears of joy flood our neckline. We’re great,” said Guberniev. He was glad that the football player at least did not receive Russian citizenship.

Earlier on February 14, an Amsterdam court sentenced Promes in absentia to six years in prison. According to investigators, in 2019 the forward was involved in transporting a large amount of cocaine belonging to Surinamese drug trafficker Piet Wartel. Currently, the footballer is with Spartak at a training camp in the UAE.

In June 2023, a Dutch court sentenced Promes in absentia to 18 months in prison. The attacker was found guilty of involvement in the armed attack and stabbing of his cousin. The footballer continued to play for Spartak and filed an appeal.

Promes returned to Spartak on February 25, 2021. Before that, he played for the red and white from 2014 to 2018, becoming the champion of Russia and the winner of the country’s Super Cup with the team.
