The FFKKR explained the change of citizenship of Tutberidze’s daughter

Sikharulidze explained Davis’ change of citizenship by the fact that she did not live in Russia

Acting President of the Russian Figure Skating Federation (FFKKR) Anton Sikharulidze explained the decision of Diana Davis, daughter of the country’s Honored Coach Eteri Tutberidze, to change her sports citizenship. His words are quoted by Sport Express.

The functionary emphasized that the athlete was not born in Russia and did not live in the country. “Secondly, she has a difficult hearing situation; the devices she needs are produced only in one country in the world. The situation is specific. When they approached us, we decided to meet them halfway,” noted Sikharulidze.

Last December, Sikharulidze spoke out about athletes changing their citizenship. According to him, the position on this issue will be toughened.

In June 2023, on June 5, the head coach of the Russian national team, Elena Chaikovskaya, announced that the executive committee of the FFKKR approved the change of sports citizenship of Davis and Gleb Smolkin, the son of actor Boris Smolkin. Since the 2023/2024 season, the dance couple, who performed for the Russian team at the 2022 Olympic Games in Beijing, has represented Georgia.
