State Duma Vice Speaker Tolstoy called for a decision on Russia’s membership in the IOC and WADA
Deputy Speaker of the State Duma Pyotr Tolstoy spoke about Russia’s membership in the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) and the International Olympic Committee (IOC). His words are quoted by “Championship”.
He doubted the need for the country to join these organizations. “We, as a parliament, need to decide on this: with membership not only in the OSCE, but also with membership in the IOC, WADA and other “wonderful” organizations to which Russia still pays membership fees,” Tolstoy urged.

Last December, the IOC announced the admission of Russians and Belarusians to the 2024 Olympics. They will be able to take part in the tournament as individual neutral athletes. At the same time, athletes who support a special operation in Ukraine and have connections with the armed forces or security agencies of Russia and Belarus will not get to Paris. Representatives of team sports will also miss the tournament.
