Olympic champion in high jump Maria Lasitskene spoke about her financial situation after being removed from international tournaments. Her words are quoted by RIA Novosti.
The athlete said she lost almost half of her income. She clarified that she no longer receives money or bonuses for her contract with the outfitter, as well as payments from the Diamond League. “At Russian Winter now there are 200 thousand rubles for winning. Abroad, these are different amounts: first place in the Diamond League – ten thousand dollars and another five thousand for arrival,” Lasitskene shared the details.
In March 2023, the International Association of Athletics Federations announced the restoration of the membership of the All-Russian Athletics Federation. At the same time, the suspension of Russian track and field athletes from competitions under the auspices of the organization was extended. It was noted that the association will subsequently formulate the conditions under which athletes will be able to return to tournaments.
Lasitskene won Olympic gold at the Tokyo 2020 Games. In addition, the Russian woman is a three-time world champion.
