Iran Football Federation calls on FIFA to ban Israel from competition
The Iranian Football Federation has called on the International Football Federation (FIFA) to ban Israel from the competition. The application is available on the organization’s website.
Iran stated that FIFA sanctions will become a symbol of the implementation of the norms of the charter of the world football community in the field of social responsibility. In their opinion, the federation needs to act immediately.
On February 8, 12 countries in the Middle East called on FIFA to suspend Israel from international tournaments. It is noted that among these countries were Palestine, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and the UAE. The letter has also been sent to all 211 national football federations and six regional confederations, including the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA).
Russian national teams were suspended from international tournaments after the start of the SVO in Ukraine. Israeli teams continue to compete in competitions under the auspices of FIFA and UEFA despite the military operation in Palestine.
