RUSADA warned Kamila Valieva against participating in ice shows
The Russian Anti-Doping Agency (RUSADA) assessed the legitimacy of figure skater Kamila Valieva’s participation in ice shows during her disqualification. Sport Express reports this.
The organization noted that the athlete cannot train other skaters, or give them advice on technique and nutrition. “Thus, interaction with Valieva as a participant in the show does not carry the risk of being accused of prohibited cooperation in the event that she does not perform the functions of the athlete’s personnel,” RUSADA said.
At the same time, the organization warned Valieva. “In some cases, for example, if certain organizations are part of the show’s organizers, a violation of the terms of disqualification may occur, which may lead to a doubling of the sanction,” RUSADA emphasized.
On January 29, the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) suspended Valieva for four years. The period of suspension starts on December 25, 2021. Then traces of the banned drug trimetazidine were found in her sample.
