Russian champion Kuzina said that Valieva can return to the sport
Multiple Russian diving champion Elizaveta Kuzina assessed figure skater Kamila Valieva’s chances of returning to the sport after disqualification. Her words are quoted by Metaratings.
The Russian woman admitted that she was very sorry for her compatriot. “Despite these difficulties, she has only two years left until the end of her disqualification. If Kamila has a goal, motivation and support, then I think she will be able to return to big-time sports,” said Kuzina.
Earlier, the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) revealed the reasoning in Valieva’s case. In particular, it was clarified that in addition to the prohibited trimetazidine, three permitted substances were found in her positive doping test.
On January 29, CAS suspended Valieva for four years for using trimetazidine. The period of suspension starts on December 25, 2021.
