The court ordered Spartak football player Promes to pay compensation to his cousin
The Amsterdam Court of Appeal handed down a verdict to the Dutch striker of Spartak Moscow, Quincy Promes, in the case of an attack on his cousin, whom the footballer stabbed. This was reported by the Dutch portal Ad.nl.
The court ordered the athlete to pay compensation to the victim. It is noted that the amount that Promes will have to pay will be determined during the subsequent procedure.
In June 2023, a Dutch court sentenced Promes in absentia to 18 months in prison. The attacker was found guilty of involvement in the armed attack and stabbing of his cousin. At the same time, the footballer continued to play for Spartak and filed an appeal.
In addition, Promes was suspected of having connections with Surinamese drug trafficker Piet Wartel. According to the Dutch prosecutor’s office, in 2019 the midfielder was involved in transporting a large amount of cocaine belonging to Wortel.
