Olympic champion Zaitseva accused the United States of not allowing Russians to compete
Two-time Olympic biathlon champion Olga Zaitseva criticized the words of the mayor of Trondheim, Kent Ranum, who previously spoke out against the participation of Russian skiers at the 2025 World Championships in Norway. The words of the athlete are reported by Match TV.
“Whatever their position was, that’s how it remains. Why is he voicing it again? It’s clear that they won’t let us in. There’s nothing new here, the circus continues,” Zaitseva noted.
The Olympic champion called Norway “essentially a forced, dependent state.”
“But let them obey like the dogs of their master. At the direction of the US? I think so,” Zaitseva explained her position.
On March 1, 2022, the Norwegian Ski Federation suspended Russian athletes from competitions held in the country. Later, the FIS extended the ban for Russians to all competitions under the auspices of the organization.
Earlier, the President of the Norwegian Ski Federation and member of the board of the International Ski Federation (FIS), Erik Reste, criticized Russian skier Yulia Stupak for training in Italy. The Norwegian’s anger was caused by the fact that the Russian woman was training on tracks intended for the World Cup.
