Irina Viner announced the possibility for gymnasts in Russia to perform until they are 60 years old
President of the All-Russian Federation of Rhythmic Gymnastics (VFKhG) Irina Viner spoke about the peculiarities of training female athletes in the country. Her words are quoted on the organization’s website.
According to the coach, in Russia there are no age restrictions for those who want to engage in rhythmic gymnastics. “Adults must continue to perform. And they can perform until they are 60 years old. They can compete in competitions and do their own program and score the amount of points that corresponds to their level of training – either CMS or MS,” said Wiener.
On January 27, Wiener ridiculed the motto of the Olympic Games. “The motto of the Olympic Games according to Pierre de Coubertin: “Faster, higher and stronger.” How can this motto be fulfilled at the Olympics if there are no strongest?” – she said.
On July 19 last year, the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG) announced the admission of Russians to international competitions in a neutral status from January 1, 2024. To compete in tournaments, athletes must submit an individual application and receive approval from the FIG.
