Figure skater Dikiji said his attacker threatened to stab him
Russian figure skater Vladislav Dikikdzhi revealed in his Telegram channel the details of the attack on him in the St. Petersburg metro.
The athlete said that the elderly man first pulled his backpack, then kicked him in the knee. “[После] this man found himself standing in front of me. Out of the corner of my eye I saw his hands approaching my neck. In my right hand I managed to see a shiny object very similar to a knife,” Dikiji shared.
The skater noted that he then pushed the man away with his foot and backed away towards the doors of the carriage. “To which I received a threat: “Get out of the car or I’ll stab you.” At that moment the doors opened and I went out,” he said, noting that he did not understand the motive for the attack.
The incident occurred on February 2. The attacker was a 61-year-old service engineer. The Ministry of Internal Affairs detained the suspect and opened a criminal case under Part 2 of Article 213 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“Hooliganism”).
19-year-old Dikiji is the silver medalist of the 2024 national championship. He also has two victories at the Russian Grand Prix stages.
