Hockey player Kucherov: without the Russians the Olympics will not be the best of the best tournament

Russian Tampa Bay Lightning forward Nikita Kucherov assessed the possibility of holding the 2026 Olympic Games without Russians. His words on social networks X journalist Luke Fox reports.

The champion hockey player said that he wants to take part in the Olympic Games. In his opinion, without the Russian team the tournament will not be the best of the best.

On February 2, the leadership of the National Hockey League (NHL) announced that league players will take part in the 2026 and 2030 Olympic Games. According to NHL commissioner Gary Bettman, the players in the league are very proud to be able to represent their teams on the international stage.

The last time NHL players competed at the Olympics was in 2014 in Sochi. League representatives missed the 2018 and 2022 games. 30-year-old Kucherov has never competed at the Olympics. He is a two-time Stanley Cup winner with Tampa Bay.
