Guberniev organized a flash mob on social networks in support of figure skater Valieva

TV presenter and confidant of Russian presidential candidate and current head of state Vladimir Putin, Dmitry Guberniev, organized a flash mob on social networks in support of figure skater Kamila Valieva. He wrote about this in his Telegram channel.

“I am sincerely shocked by the news that our golden girl Kamila Valieva has been suspended from competition for four years,” he said, noting that he considers such a punishment absurd. According to him, in this case, sport and politics were not just mixed – sport was destroyed.

In this regard, Guberniev called on everyone to join the flash mob and post photos with the hashtag #OurGolden! He also assured Valieva that she should not “hang up her skates.”

There are already more than 1000 posts with the hashtag #OurGold! and hearts. Valieva, among others, expressed support from actor Ivan Okhlobystin; the figure skater was also supported by athletes from among Vladimir Putin’s confidants – seven-time Olympic champion in synchronized swimming Svetlana Romashina and four-time Olympic champion Alexander Popov. “Despite what happened, we must remain one team and our strength lies in unity!” — Romashina wrote.

Singer Gazan also published a photo with Evgeny Rylov, a Russian swimmer and two-time Olympic champion, who also joined the flash mob. Russian blogger Natasha Gasankhanova, in turn, posted a post where, on her own behalf and on behalf of two-time Paralympic champion Alexander Kuzyukov and boxer Alexander Povetkin, she invited her to support Valieva.

On January 29, the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) suspended Valieva for four years for violating anti-doping rules. The athlete was stripped of gold for winning the team tournament at the 2022 Olympic Games as part of the Russian team. In addition, she was left without the Russian and European champion titles.

Press Secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov called the decision to disqualify the athlete politicized. He said that Russia must protect the interests of its athletes to the end, using the existing appeal mechanisms.
