Yana Rudkovskaya criticized Tutberidze’s comments on Valieva’s doping case
Yana Rudkovskaya, music producer and wife of two-time Olympic champion Evgeni Plushenko, criticized coach Eteri Tutberidze’s comments on the doping case of figure skater Kamila Valieva on Telegram.
“Every line oozes arrogance, every line is literally ‘I don’t owe you any explanation, I’m a victim too.’ Seriously, Eteri Georgievna? Whose victim are you? Another girl, an unfortunate child whose career was ruined and her dream taken away?” — wrote Rudkovskaya.
According to the producer, the coach should have taken the blame upon herself, and not put it on the skater, in whose life a tragedy occurred.
On January 31, Tutberidze reproached the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) for not establishing exactly how the prohibited substance entered Valieva’s body. In addition, the coach expressed doubts that someone defended the skater at the hearings and called the court’s verdict the worst.
On January 29, CAS suspended Valieva for four years for using the banned drug trimetazidine. The period of suspension starts on December 25, 2021. The athlete, along with her partners on the Russian national team, was deprived of gold for winning the team tournament at the 2022 Olympics. The International Skating Union awarded bronze medals to other members of the Russian team.
