Fighter Alexander Emelianenko spoke about problems due to rumors about converting to Islam
Russian mixed style (MMA) fighter Alexander Emelianenko in his Telegram channel spoke about the problems that he had in Russia after rumors about converting to Islam.
The athlete did not specify what problems were being discussed. “While in Saudi Arabia, I saw holy places and learned a lot. I am interested in the Islamic religion. In Russia, evil tongues wrote that I converted to Islam, but I did not accept it,” the fighter added.
On January 25, Emelianenko signed a contract with the Ural FC promotion. The agreement is for three fights, for which the Russian will receive 20 million rubles.
On January 9, coach Rasul Magomedaliev announced Emelianenko’s conversion to Islam. The next day, the head of the Boxing Federation of Ingushetia, Lom-Ali Gazgiriev, denied this information.
42-year-old Emelianenko has 40 MMA fights, in which he won 29 victories and suffered 10 defeats. Another fight involving a Russian ended in a draw.
