Russian Foreign Ministry representative Zakharova said that the West is destroying Olympism
Official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova spoke about the Olympic movement. Her words are quoted by TASS with reference to the Moscow 24 TV channel.
Zakharova stated that Olympism is being destroyed by the West through the invention of different genders, allowing men to participate in women’s competitions and vice versa. “They are simply killing an idea that was not their discovery, but came to us by inheritance as a gift from the times of deep antiquity,” she considered.
Previously, the Russian team was deprived of gold in the team figure skating tournament at the 2022 Olympic Games after Kamila Valieva’s points were cancelled. As a result, Russia dropped to third place in the standings, gold went to the USA team, and silver went to Japan.
On January 29, the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) suspended Kamila Valieva for four years. The period of suspension is counted from December 25, 2021, all her results for this period are canceled.
