Euskaraz irakurri: Goikoetxea eta Lekerika dira Eusko Label Winter Serieseko lehenengo finalistak

Iñaki Osa Goikoetxea and Unai Lekerika will play the grand final of the Eusko Label Winter Series 2024 on February 18 after winning an exciting first semifinal against Johan Sorozabal and Imanol López in three sets: 15-8, 9-15 and 5-4.

First set beautiful and highly contested, with the four protagonists giving everything on the field. Johan and López have started very strong, with two beautifully crafted goals that have given them a slight advantage on the scoreboard. But Goiko and Leke have made it very clear why they have finished the group in first place in Group A, with three victories in the three games played.

Thus, and after a first draw of two goals and another of four, the striker from Zumaia and the defender from Gernika have dominated the field, with a true gale of play in which they have completely upset their rivals. Sample of this domain is the partial 7-0 which has put them with a comfortable 11 to 5 on the scoreboard.

Johan and López have been completely overwhelmed. Even having recovered serve at 11-5, they committed a serve fault that returned the initiative to their rivals. As it is, the first set has clearly been for Goikoetxea and Lekerika (15-8).

The game has changed from top to bottom in the second game. Johan and López have gone ahead 0-5 in an instant. The yellow couple has come out all out and made up for the bad time they had in the first game. And boy have they done it. Up to seven points have gone (1-8), and although Goiko and Leke have tried and managed to get within three points (7-10), the second set went to the forward from Lapurdi and the defender from Zumaia (9-15).

Third and final set

Maximum tension in the third and final set. And it was no wonder, since the precious ticket to the grand final was at stake. Goiko and Leke have taken the lead with a comfortable 3 to 1but Johan and López have equaled three and 4 points.
