Figure skater Kamila Valieva published a video after the CAS decision on disqualification

Russian figure skater Kamila Valieva published a video on her Instagram account (the social network is banned in the Russian Federation; it belongs to the Meta corporation, which is recognized as extremist in Russia and is banned) after a decision on disqualification for doping.

The 17-year-old athlete showed an excerpt from her performance. The video is superimposed with a song with the words “Muffle my pain and choose my heart, the sun will burn out, thoughts have been knocked out, where would we be? And love”.

Earlier on January 29, the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) disqualified Valieva for four years. The period of suspension starts on December 25, 2021. According to the court, Valieva could not prove that she did not take doping intentionally.

Thus, the athlete will be deprived of gold for winning the team tournament at the 2022 Olympic Games in Beijing as part of the Russian team. In addition, she will remain without the title of European and Russian champion.

The doping scandal surrounding Valieva unfolded at the 2022 Olympic Games. Traces of the banned drug trimetazidine were found in the skater’s sample from December 2021. At the same time, CAS allowed her to participate in the individual tournament, where she took fourth place.
