Kovalchuk said that Hasek, who criticizes the Russians, “hit something with a puck”
Olympic champion, Spartak Moscow forward Ilya Kovalchuk responded to criticism of Russians from Czech ex-hockey player Dominik Hasek. His words are quoted by Match TV.
“Goalkeeper, in a word. They probably hit something with the puck,” Kovalchuk said.
On January 9, Hasek addressed Russian hockey players and officials. The former athlete said that no athlete from Russia can participate in international tournaments due to the events in Ukraine.
Since February 2022, Hasek has been actively promoting initiatives against Russian athletes. He called on the leaders of the National Hockey League (NHL) to resign because of their position on Russia. Also, the two-time Stanley Cup winner refused to consider the NHL All-Star Game a holiday and called the presence of Russian hockey players at the event disgusting advertising.
