Hasek said that he will not return the money he earned in Russia because he deserves it
Olympic champion, two-time Stanley Cup winner Dominik Hasek answered the question about the return of money earned in Russia. His words are quoted by CNN Prima News.
Hasek said that he would not return the funds received for playing in Spartak in the 2010/2011 season of the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL), because he deserved them with his work. “The club doesn’t owe me anything, and neither do I. I personally don’t demand anything from them because the situation in Russia has changed,” the Czech noted.
According to him, at that time he considered Russia to be a fairly democratic state. “Back then, not a single politician, official or anyone else warned me about the danger or unacceptability of playing in Russia,” Hasek added.
On January 9, Hasek addressed Russian hockey players and officials. The former athlete said that no athlete from Russia can participate in international tournaments due to the events in Ukraine.
Since February 2022, Hasek has been actively promoting initiatives against Russian athletes. He called on the leaders of the National Hockey League (NHL) to resign because of their position on Russia. The Czech also refused to consider the NHL All-Star Game a holiday and called the presence of Russian hockey players at the event disgusting advertising.
