UEFA head Ceferin said he does not see a problem in the match between Russia and Serbia
President of the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) Aleksandar Ceferin assessed the likelihood of holding a match between the national teams of Russia and Serbia. His words are quoted by The Guardian.
“The Serbian national team can also play against you, me and the rest. According to the law, we cannot do anything,” said the head of UEFA. He refused to see the problem with teams wanting to play football.
The match between the national teams of Russia and Serbia will take place on March 21 in Moscow. The Russian Football Union and the Football Union of Serbia emphasized that they had received permission to hold the meeting from UEFA.
On February 28, 2022, FIFA and UEFA suspended Russian national teams and clubs from participating in international tournaments. Teams do not compete in European competitions, and the Russian national team has lost the opportunity to fight for access to the finals of the World and European Championships.
