An 18-year-old Russian MMA fighter was injured and died during a tournament in Kirov
A Russian mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter, whose name has not been released, died during a tournament in Kirov. RIA Novosti reports this.
According to the source, the death occurred at the Yunost Martial Arts Center on January 26. The athlete received a traumatic brain injury and lost consciousness. The doctors on duty at the tournament provided him with first aid. After this, the resuscitation team was called, but they were unable to save the fighter.
The Ministry of Sports of Kirovskaya stated that the athletes performed in appropriate equipment. The state of health of the deceased before the start of the tournament was satisfactory. Representatives of law enforcement agencies in the region began checking into the incident.
In March 2023, MMA fighter Muhammadali Saidov died in the United States from an injury received during training. He was injured during sparring and suffered a brain hemorrhage.
