Dutch prosecutors failed to extradite Quincy Promes
Attempts by the Dutch prosecutor’s office to extradite the Dutch Spartak legionnaire Quincy Promes to his homeland from the UAE were unsuccessful. The result became known to the publication AD.
In a Middle Eastern country, the player is at a training camp with the red and white. On January 24, a court in Amsterdam is considering the case of Promes, who is accused of drug smuggling. The footballer himself is not present at the meeting.
In January last year, Promes was suspected of having connections with Surinamese drug trafficker Piet Wartel. According to the Dutch prosecutor’s office, in 2019 the midfielder was involved in transporting a large amount of cocaine belonging to Wortel.
In June 2023, a Dutch court sentenced Promes in absentia to 18 months in prison. The attacker was found guilty of involvement in the armed attack and stabbing of his cousin. The forward continues to play for Spartak and this season he scored six goals and made six assists in 17 matches of the Russian championship.
