Russian forward of the Pittsburgh Penguins Evgeni Malkin scored an own goal in the regular season match of the National Hockey League (NHL) against the Arizona Coyotes. This was reported by a Lenta.ru correspondent.

The episode occurred in the third period with the score 3:2 in favor of Arizona. Pittsburgh played shorthanded and was given the right to attack on a delayed penalty by replacing the goalkeeper with a field player. Defenseman Kris Letang passed the ball to Malkin, but he was unable to handle the puck correctly and sent it into his team’s empty net.

The meeting ended with a score of 5:2. In addition to the own goal, the Russian forward scored an assist.

Malkin, 37, has been playing for Pittsburgh since 2006. Together with the team, the Russian hockey player became a three-time Stanley Cup winner.
