Former striker of the Slovak national team and the Perm club “Amkar” Martin Jakubko shared his impressions of the joint work with the Russian coach Stanislav Cherchesov. It is reported by Sport24.
Yakubko played for Amkar from 2012 to 2015. Cherchesov led the team from 2013 to 2014. The Slovak player claims that the Russian specialist has repeatedly shown disrespect for others.
“He considers himself the king of the world. And when he is also rushing, then his self-esteem doubles, ”noted Yakubko. He also recalled how the coach reacted rudely to his request. The Slovak wanted to take a day off to visit his sick wife. “Get out of here,” Cherchesov replied then.
However, Yakubko praised Cherchesov as a professional. “He had good training, cool tactics, preparation for the opponent,” said the Slovak.
The last place of work of Cherchesov was the Russian national team. He left the team after the failed Euro 2020. Russian footballers under the leadership of Cherchesov failed to overcome the group stage of the tournament.
