Ukrainian tennis player Marta Kostyuk accused the US Open of pro-Russian propaganda

Ukrainian tennis player Marta Kostyuk criticized the US Open. She made a statement on her Instagram page (the social network is banned in the Russian Federation; it belongs to the Meta corporation, which is recognized as extremist in Russia and is banned).

Kostyuk accused the US Open press service of pro-Russian propaganda. She was outraged that the tournament account published the result of the match between Kostyuk and Maria Timofeeva at the Australian Open (6:2, 6:1), where there was a Russian flag next to the name of her losing opponent.

“I call on members of the media, officials and the sports community to stop using the tennis court to promote the ‘Russian world,’” she said. Kostyuk noted that the neutral status under which Russians and Belarusians act does not actually exist, since everyone knows which countries they represent.

Kostyuk refuses to shake hands with Russians and Belarusians after the end of matches. For this, the spectators in the stands booed her.
