Canadian rapper Drake lost hundreds of thousands of dollars in the championship fight between Sean Strickland and Dricus du Plessis in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). The musician bet on Strickland to win, Talksport reports.
As a result, Drake lost 700 thousand dollars. The fight between Strickland and du Plessis took place in Toronto, Strickland defended the title for the first time and lost by split decision.
It is noted that Drake regularly makes large bets on sporting events and often loses. So, in September, the rapper bet 500 thousand dollars on Strickland’s rival Israel Adesanya, after which he lost the champion belt. He also bet on Conor McGregor when he lost to Khabib Nurmagomedov and Anthony Joshua when he lost to Andy Ruiz Jr.
Drake previously mentioned Russian hockey player Alexander Ovechkin in one of his songs. The track is called I’m On One, in the lyrics the rapper compares himself to an athlete.
