The Norwegian coach is absolutely sure about Kamil Stoch. And it surprises about ¯yle

Last weekend the Norwegian jumpers showed off in Klingenthal. In Sunday’s competition, Marius Lindvik, Robert Johansson, and Johann Andre Forfang made it into the top six. They took successively from second to sixth places – behind.

The day before, Granerud took second place, 0.1 points ahead (Stefan Kraft won). For our champion, the third place was a success anyway, the first podium finish this season.

“Kamil does what he always does”

– Kamil does what he always does: he gets better shortly before the 4-Hills-Tournament. I am absolutely sure that he will be strong again at the tournament – tells us the Norwegian coach.

Stoch is the TCS winner of 2017, 2018 and 2021. In Engelberg, he will most likely confirm his growing form several days before the start of the German-Austrian event.

Stoch in Klingenthal was third on Saturday and missed on Sunday due to severe pain in his sinuses. Fortunately, already Monday’s examination by doctor Aleksander Winiarski, team doctor, showed that our best jumper should quickly recover.

She was living the biggest question mark

We would like to be able to say the same about the other Polish jumpers. Unfortunately, you have to put question marks next to their names. , Andrzej Stękała, Jakub Wolny and Klemens Murańka will start after the break from the World Cup. They were not in Klingenthal, they were training in Ramsau at the time.

It is also hard to expect great things from Paweł Wąsk, because although he did well in Klingenthal (on Saturday he was 30th, on Sunday he would be in the beginning of the third ten after the 1st round, but he was disqualified for too large jumpsuit), he is still an inexperienced jumper and not yet at its peak.

Or maybe the biggest question mark should be placed next to. This year’s world champion from Oberstdorf is only 26th overall in the World Cup. In seven competitions ya scored only 65 points – he was 32nd and 16th in Nizhny Tagil, 23rd and 27th in Kuusamo, 25th in Wisła and 17th and 14th in Klingenthal.

A few days ago at Vogtland Arena Żyła looked a bit better, more stable than before. Nevertheless, the coach said that he was now sure that it was necessary to eliminate the mistakes that Żyła was making in the air.

Earlier – after the competitions in Wisła -. – Piotr has such a strange technique that you can see how he is losing meters in flight – noted the former champion, and now a Eurosport expert.

“It is possible that this way of jumping will be just as strong”

We ask about the Żyły technique – more the H style than the V style – we ask. And we hear a surprising answer. – Piotr has always flown like that. It’s hard to say that this is too wide skiing, says the Austrian.

Stoeckl is not impressed by the comparison of the flight phase of Żyła and Stoch from Klingenthal, or the memory of Żyła flying in February and March at the world championships in Oberstdorf. – I do not remember if he flew there so widely, and based on the repetitions of his jumps, it is difficult for me to judge. But it is possible that he will be as strong with the way of jumping that we can see now, with this wide H, as he was then in Oberstdorf, argues Stoeckl.

“Piotrek has his own approach to everything. He will also fly away with this style.”

It is very possible that Żyła must focus primarily on the second part of what Doleżal said in Klingenthal – “the sking of the skis in the air is too big”. Due to this arrangement of the skis, Żyła loses its cruising speed.

Interestingly, like Stoeckl, he watches the strange flying of the Vein. – Piotrek has his own approach to everything. I think it won’t bother him that much if he stabilizes the first 10-12 meters behind the threshold. There he still has a moment to position himself: one ski anyway, a little sideways, has to catch up a little with his hand and only then it flies away. If everything is fine there, it will also fly away with this style, and a very long way off – stated the president of the Polish Ski Association and a former team coach in the Sport.pl Live program.

Covid mild version. Stoeckl worked online

Coming back to Stoeckel – Żyła, Stoch, and above all his jumpers from the Norwegian national team, the Austrian coach will watch on TV. – I have to stay in isolation in Klingenthal until December 22nd. Then I’ll go to Austria by car for Christmas. Fortunately, the symptoms of covid are very slight: a cough and a slight fever, Stoeckl tells us.

Thanks to the mild course of the disease, the trainer was able to work normally for the last few days. – I organized the training sessions and then watched the jumpers classes in Lillehammer – concludes Stoeckl.

On Friday in Engelberg, qualification at 5 pm. Competitions on Saturday and Sunday at 4 pm.
