The device is contraindicated for the practice of professional football in Italy, but it is allowed in other championships.
The Inter Milan and Christian Eriksen have reached an agreement for the termination of the Danish international’s contract, the Italian club announced on Friday, which may allow the player, six months after his cardiac arrest at the European Championship, to look for another team to play again.
Eriksen, 29, has carried a defibrillator since his accident, a device contraindicated for the practice of professional football in Italy, but this device is authorized in other championships.
On June 12 at the Denmark-Finland Euro Cup game, Eriksen suddenly collapsed on the pitch just before half-time, his eyes wide. The game was interrupted and his teammates surrounded him in a circle around him, some of them with tears in their eyes, while the emergency services tried to revive him.
After several minutes, the Danish player was removed on a stretcher, covered with tarps to avoid the images, applauded by the public present at the Copenhagen stadium.
The referee sent the players to the changing rooms and on their social networks, UEFA announced that the match was “suspended due to a medical emergency”, although it was resumed hours later. (D)
