Góngora’s fight against Richards will be a match in the 168-pound division, scheduled for 12 rounds.

Góngora became IBO world champion on December 18, 2020 by knocking out Kazakh Ali Akhmedov in the twelfth round and retained the belt on April 17 by defeating by technical knockout in the eighth round American Christopher Pearson, in what was his only fight of the year.

His second belt defense, the emerald-man had been waiting for her since July; months later promoters informed him that there was a great chance in September against fellow Englishman John Ryder in Florida, United States. The parties did not announce any official agreement.

Richards (29), for his part, has also been inactive in the past two years, with a 2020 win over Timo Laine and a points win over Giovanni De Carolis last May.
