Cristian Erbes, a 34-year-old Argentine midfielder, is one of Emelec’s new signings for the 2024 season, in which the electric team will have no international competition and aims to win the Pro League.

The midfielder grew up in the lower categories of Boca Juniors, where he arrived at the age of 11, and in 2009 he made his debut in the first category with the most popular Argentine club, where he stayed until 2016.

In his professional career he also played for Chacarita Juniors, Atlético Tucumán and Ferrocarril Oeste (all from Argentina), Veracruz (Mexico), Nacional (Paraguay), Deportes La Serena (Chile) and FC Karpaty Lviv (Ukraine).

In an interview for an international sports network, the football player described in detail how the talks about signing the contract with the electric team took place.

“We are aware of the size of the club in South America. The truth is, when I got the proposal, I didn’t have much to analyze. I also had offers from the first division of Argentina and I decided to come here. “I hope I made the best decision,” he said.

“I arrived a few weeks ago, here are the leading players, although it is true that they did not have a good 2023. I have already spoken to (Luis Fernando) León —fantastic guy—, (Aníbal) Leguizamón, (Jaime) ) Ayoví and (Pedro ) Ortiz The team looks very united,” added Erbes in a conversation with ESPN.

He also said what coach Hernán Torres asked of him and that he can’t wait to be in the Blue Explosion, where the millionaires represent their team for the season.

“Let’s be an organized team. Let’s not be divided, attackers on one side, defenders on the other; That we are together and that they don’t attack us. My role will be in the middle so that there is not much space left and the rival injures you”, he revealed.

“First, I really want to play on February 10 for the Blue Explosion. I saw footage of the fans singing and cheering. It is a great satisfaction and I hope they will receive me well”, concluded Erbes. (D)
