The State Duma allowed the refusal to use Fan ID at RPL matches

Olympic speed skating champion and State Duma deputy Svetlana Zhurova commented on the adoption of the Fan ID bill. Her words are quoted by “Championship.com”.

“In theory, Fan ID may not apply to the matches of the Russian Premier League,” Zhurova admitted. She noted that a FAN ID is primarily required for international competitions.

Zhurova stressed that there is no obligation in the law, there is only the possibility of introducing an identification system. She clarified that the government will work out an application procedure and determine which stadiums and events will be required to use Fan ID.

Earlier on December 17, the State Duma in the third reading adopted a bill on the introduction of a fan passport for access to the competition. The law will come into force on June 1, 2022. Officially, the FAN ID will be called the personalized card for attending a sporting event. It will allow the identification of all persons involved in the conduct of the tournament in order to ensure safety and public order. It will be possible to issue a document on the State Services portal.
