Tomas Vosvrda said that some European hockey players are going to play in the KHL
Former goalkeeper and now agent Tomas Vosvrda spoke about the attitude of European players to invitations to clubs of the Continental Hockey League (KHL). His words are quoted by Pravda.sk.
Vošvrda said that several Slovaks received offers from Russia, but refused them. “However, there are those who have come to terms with the fact that they can just go and earn money. This is very individual and cannot be generalized. We can’t even say that none of the Czechs will go, since there are some there,” he said.
Earlier, Olympic champion and two-time Stanley Cup winner Dominik Hasek made excuses for his performances in Russia. The athlete said that he was not educated enough to conclude how Russia would develop.
On August 25, 2022, the Czech Hockey Federation announced that it would not call up players playing in Russian clubs to the national team. Similar statements were made in Slovakia, Finland and Sweden.
