Bobrovsky, Shesterkin and Sorokin named contenders for the Vezina Trophy in the NHL

15 authors of the National Hockey League (NHL) website named candidates for the Vezina Trophy, the prize for the best goalkeeper of the season. The list is available on the league website.

In total, three Russians made it into the top 15. Florida Panthers player Sergei Bobrovsky scored 25 points and took fourth place in the rankings. Igor Shesterkin of the New York Rangers and Ilya Sorokin of the New York Islanders each received two votes and were ranked 10th and 11th, respectively.

In the 2022/2023 season, Sorokin was also nominated for the prize, becoming the only Russian nominated for an individual award. However, he lost to Boston Bruins goaltender Linus Ullmark in the deciding vote.

In the 2021/2022 season, Shesterkin received the Vezina Trophy. He beat out Juuse Saros of the Nashville Predators and Jacob Markstrom of the Calgary Flames for the award.
